TRHS Freshman Academy

Why the Freshman Academy?

Freshman year in high school is a time of excitement and expectation. It is a time when young people discover who they are and more importantly, who they can become. The transition from middle school to high school is a big step in a young person’s life. This transition is supported and sustained in our Freshman Academy Model. The Freshman Academy at Travelers Rest High School (TRHS) creates a focused team approach that shapes a common purpose toward developing a sense of community and a strong commitment to student achievement. The team model is developed around the concept of a Small Learning Community.

Below are some tips for succeeding in not only The Freshman Academy but in high school in general. Please take time to read and reflect on these ideas. It is our sincere hope that your child will have a positive experience at TRHS. Everyone at TRHS is excited about the upcoming school year and welcoming to our incoming freshman.

Our Freshman Academy goals for school year 2017-2018 include:

      1. Increasing the percentage of 9th grade students advancing to 10th grade.
      2. Supporting and sustaining a successful transition into the high school environment.
      3. Increasing attendance through frequent and regular communication with parents.

Parents please encourage your child to study diligently, be positive and take advantage of all TRHS has to offer. We thank you for your continuing support.
