Welcome to Our Classroom!
Teaching is an absolute passion of mine! I am so excited to work with you and your child this year. It’s going to be a year full of fun, learning, and lots of adventures, and I can't wait to see what the year has in store for us!
A Little About Me:
I am married to my wonderful husband, Maurice, and we have four amazing children. Taliyah, 24, is in her fifth year of owning her hair salon. Kennedy, 22, is a senior at Winthrop University. Maurice Jr., 20, Army National Guard, and my youngest, McKenzie, 17, who is in the 12th grade, keep me busy and fill my heart with joy. In my free time, I love traveling and shopping.
I was born in Boston, Massachusetts, but spent my grade school years in Charleston, South Carolina. Seven years ago, I relocated back to South Carolina after spending 13 years teaching in Florida. I graduated from the prestigious Claflin University with a B.S. in Elementary Education in 1998 and earned my Master of Arts in Teaching from Webster University in 2007. I also completed my certification in Principalship from Lamar University.
My Teaching Journey
This will be my 8th year teaching at Thomas E. Kerns, and my 20th year in the teaching profession. It is my mission to instill a love of learning in my students. I strive to teach with a passion that inspires my students to become lifelong learners.
Communication
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to keep communication open between us, and I would love to talk to you whenever you need to. I look forward to a great year together!
