I have many years of experience working with children including the fact that I have three adult daughters of my own. My husband and I have been married for thirty-plus years and he is always my rock of support. In 2004, I graduated from USC State with a Major in Elementary Education and a Minor in Psychology. In 2013, I received a Masters Degree in Leadership from Gardner-Webb University.
Teaching became a goal for me later in my life when one of my daughters started to show signs of a learning disorder and later an attention deficit disorder. I immediately became interested in the process of helping students like my daughter. As I learned that there are many students that sometimes fall through the cracks of the school system, I became determined not to let this happen to my daughter. After being assured that my daughter was going to be okay, I began to think about other students like her. That’s when I made the decision to become an educator. It was an important choice for my family, and every day I live with the fulfillment of knowing that I have made a difference in the lives of all my students.
My mission is to reach as many students as possible. To guide them in ways that will benefit their lives in the long term. To let them know that I require their best effort and in return, I will give them mine. I love to see the sparkles in their eyes when they learn something new and the confidence in their faces when we review something old. I hope to make every parent feel as if I see his or her child as if I am seeing my own. It is my belief, that all children are born with the potential for greatness, and when nurtured to have a positive mindset, children are capable of reaching their full potential.
My teaching philosophy follows: I believe with all my heart that every child has the ability to learn. They may learn in different ways but they can learn. All students with the help of parents and teachers can achieve a life far better than we could ever imagine.
I am looking forward to having a great year with you and your child. I encourage you to email, write notes or place phone calls whenever you would like to speak with me.
