Mrs. May and Mrs. Wald have teamed up this year to support and collect toys for LEO Santa. There will be a donation box sitting at the doors of the F hall through the month of November. Please consider donating to support local community children in need this Holiday season. Each year Law Enforcement Officers from across the Upstate set out to collect toys from members of our community at participating toy donation sites to give to local children in low income areas. LEO Santa is a local “toy drive” conducted by off-duty Law Enforcement Officers who fill their patrol cars with toys and gifts donated by the community for kids in our local area each Christmas! All toys stay local to our community.
French Honor Society - Students who have completed French 2 are eligible to join the French Honor Society if they have maintained an A in French class (at least 3 consecutive quarters of an A with a current A average). Pay French Honor Society dues on MySchoolBucks from 11/14-12/14. New members: $10. Returning members: $3. See Mrs. McFall with questions. Our quarterly meeting will be on Monday 11/27 in L106. We will be discussing service hours, meetings, and graduation cords.
Girl Up - Girl Up is collecting donations of feminine hygiene products for The Period Project, which distributes product packages to women's shelters and schools. Please bring your donation to Mrs. Thompson's room - J106 by December 19.
German Club - German Club has extended its sale of German Club T-Shirts through Monday, November 27! Cost is $17. You can see the shirt design & order your shirt by scanning the QR code. You can pay through MSB. See Frau Fowler with questions.
PTA & Red Cross Clubs - There are currently over 33,000 homeless vets in the US due to physical, social, and mental disabilities causing struggles with employment and addictions. In 2022, HUD-VASH was able to find transitional housing for nearly 60 of these struggling vets in our community and it looks as though 2023 may surpass that number. With help from the non-profit Veterans Are Heroes, these vets were able to turn these empty houses and apartments into comfortable, livable homes. As our community celebrates those who have served our country and fought for our freedoms this weekend, RHS Red Cross Club and PTSA are kicking off our 2nd Annual Battle of the Bins Donation Drive. Veterans Are Heroes is in need of new and gently used household items and furniture, as well as monetary donations, to help outfit these homes for our vets. Just like the upcoming rival football game, you choose your favorite team to support when making your donation - Clemson or Carolina. We will announce the "winning" team at our home basketball game on December 8th. Daily, donations can be dropped in the appropriate "bin" each morning in the T-Mall. Do students need service hours? PTSA has agreed to sign off on 1 service hour in exchange for $5 in monetary or item donations for participating clubs and societies. For details on items needed, to choose from Wish Lists, or to simply make an online or Venmo donation, stop by the table in the T-Mall or check out the Warrior Press or the PTSA website. With the upcoming holidays and colder weather, we thank you for your assistance in keeping our struggling veterans off the streets.
November is upon us, and with it comes a season of gratitude. This is one of my favorite times of the year. There is much to be thankful for, and I love the opportunities afforded to spend time with those we love. I am thankful for all of you and your unwavering support for all the PTSA does at Riverside High School.
If you're looking to get involved, I encourage you to check out PTSA's website. There are links to learn more about us, ways to support us and our programs, and so much more.
I would also like to invite you to attend a monthly PTSA board meeting. We meet on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 9 a.m. in the Media Center conference room. Meetings are open to all. As always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like to get plugged in.
Sincerely,
