Hello all! My name is Julie Summey. I graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC with my Bachelors of Music Education in 1990 and my Masters of Music Education in 1991. This is my 3rd year at Ellen Woodside Elementary/Riley Center and I am so excited to be here! I previously taught music at Greenbrier Elementary for 1 year and band at Bryson Middle School for 21 years. I started my teaching career in Bishopville, SC where I taught middle and high school band for three years.
When I get free time, I love to spend time with my family, read, listen to music, and watch TV/movies. I also still play music when I can, which is always fun! I absolutely love Broadway musicals and can be found at the Peace Center regularly. Motown and '80's music are my two main go to styles in the popular music genre. The love of music is something I hope to instill in my students. When it comes to books and movies, I am very much a "nerd". I love science fiction and fantasy. I am a HUGE fan of Doctor Who (10 and 15 are my favorites), DISNEY, Marvel, and Star Wars. :)
