In collaboration with GCS, first grade uses the HMH Into Reading program for reading and writing, along with Reading Horizons for Word Study. Throughout the year, our focus will be on key ELA expectations, including students’ development as readers, writers, thinkers, and communicators. We will emphasize foundational literacy skills, the application of reading strategies, research, and both written and oral communication. Reading benchmark reports will be sent home three times during the school year—Fall, Winter, and Spring.
