Teaching has been my love and interest since I was fifteen years old. I was inspired by the teachers that I had in Middle School and High School and wanted to enter into the profession. I went to college and excelled in my education classes, student taught, and I am beginning my 28th year teaching. I have never wanted to do anything else. The impact that I can have on others in one day is, in some cases, more than some people have on others in a year. Teaching and being around young people gives me energy and enthusiasm. I learn so much about myself through them. I have been blessed in so many ways by the students and community of Simpsonville and the young men and women I have had the honor to have taught.
My wife Susan works for Greenville County School District. We have three children, Ashley who is twenty-three years old and in Charleston attending Law School, Collin who is twenty-one and a Senior at Clemson, and Ryan who is sixteen and a 11th Grader at Hillcrest HS. We live here in Simpsonville and enjoy our ties to the community. We moved here in 2005 from Eastern Pennsylvania. We both feel truly blessed when we look back on the last 20 years and all the wonderful people we have met and have the opportunity to work with so many people in the surrounding community.
I also have a passion for sports and coaching. There are countless teaching moments in sports and the life lessons are irreplaceable. Sports has had such an impact on who I am as a person and it was a tool for me to get an education and I work to instill that in the young people I encounter as teacher and former coach/athletic director. This year I am looking forward to the challenges and the many opportunities to impact young people in both my classroom and through our athletic programs.
