About Me
I was born in Greenville, SC and graduated from Eastside High School in June of 1998. I began my college career at Winthrop University and after two years I transferred to Clemson University to finish my degree. I received my Bachelors of Science Degree in Accounting from Clemson University in May of 2002. I worked in the accounting field for four years before deciding to change careers and become a teacher. I qualified to teach Business Education in South Carolina through the PACE program and began substitute teaching in Greenville County School District. While substitute teaching, I began taking classes at Greenville Technical College to add mathematics eligibility. After substitute teaching for three years, I found out about the Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program through Clemson University at the University Center of Greenville. I enrolled into the program and began my classes in January 2009. I completed my practicum and student teaching at Bryson Middle School in Simpsonville during the 2009 – 2010 school year. I graduated in May of 2010 with my Masters of Arts in Teaching degree and initial certification in Middle Level Mathematics. I began my search for a teaching position after graduation and started my career during the second semester of the 2010 – 2011 school year at Lakeview Middle School. Now I am returning to my alma mater to continue in my teaching career at Eastside High School. I completed my Education Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision at Clemson University May 2017 and I am currently working on my PhD in Educational Leadership at Clemson University, in which I hope to complete in May 2024.
I married my wonderful husband, Nick, on May 12, 2007. I gained two great children through the marriage to my husband. Austin is 29 years old, married, and working as a registered nurse in Chicago, Illinois. Owen is 25 years old and is working as a firefighter in Simpsonville. We currently live in Simpsonville. I enjoy traveling and vacationing with my husband and family during our spare time. I am a dedicated Clemson fan and attend all home football games to cheer on my Tigers. I also enjoy roller skating, snow skiing, water skiing, and playing softball. I was given the opportunity to coach sports at Lakeview for three years. I coached volleyball and softball but I decided to take a break from coaching to enroll in the PhD program at Clemson. I was given the opportunity to get back into athletics here at Eastside as an assistant athletic director. I hope to learn a lot from the teaching opportunities I have been given at Eastside High School. Lets Go Eagles!!!
