My name is Seth Stewart. I have been teaching Health and Physical Education since 2005. After graduating from The Citadel with a BS Degree in Health, Exercise and Sports Science, I taught and coached high school football in the low-country of South Carolina for six years. I moved with my wife and children to Greenville in 2011 to attend Clemson University to obtain a Masters degree in Education Administration and Supervision. I graduated in 2013. This is my 3rd year at Hollis Academy.
My wife and I have been married 18 years. She is also a teacher. She teaches art at Lake Forest Elementary School. We have three children, one dog, a pig and four chickens.
I am passionate about Physical Education, Health and fitness. Physical fitness is important to me. I incorporate it into my daily life. I believe it impacts our quality of life. I especially enjoy running and have completed marathons, half-marathons, and I have twice completed the Table Rock Mountain (NC) Ultra-Marathon, which was 31 miles long. I have also participated in the Barrier Island Ecothon which included kayaking, cycling, swimming, and running. I try to incorporate healthy eating habits into my life as well. I hope to share my love of fitness with my students.
Participating in regular physical activity, whether in school or outside of school, impacts other aspects of life. Research shows that physical activity can improve academics. My goal through this course is to help students see the need for regular physical activity and encourage them to make it a part of their everyday lives.
