Greenville Police Department
My name is Jordan Penrod, and I am excited to begin the 2026–2027 school year as the School Resource Officer (SRO) at AJ Whittenberg. Prior to joining the AJ Whittenberg team, I served as the SRO at West Greenville School for the past three years.
I have been in law enforcement since 2012, beginning my career with the Stark County Sheriff’s Office in Canton, Ohio. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to serve in a variety of roles, including Corrections, K9, Patrol, and Recruiting, before finding my passion in school-based law enforcement.
I became a police officer because I wanted to help people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. When I joined the SRO Unit, my goal expanded to include making a positive and lasting impact on young people and helping guide them toward a positive future.
During my time at West Greenville, I saw firsthand the impact that meaningful relationships and mentorship can have on students. In particular, I was inspired by the school's Friday morning boys’ group and recognized a need for additional community mentors for young men who have experienced trauma or mental health challenges. That experience led me to establish a nonprofit organization called Big Bro Lil Bro. We meet twice a month with the goal of connecting young men with consistent, caring adults who can provide encouragement, mentorship, and support. In 2025, I was honored to be named the Upstate School Resource Officer of the Year in recognition of my work within my school and the broader community.
Outside of law enforcement, my greatest joy is my family. I have been married to my wonderful wife, Brittney, since 2015, and we have two children, JJ and Evie. They are full of energy and life, and watching them grow and develop their own unique personalities has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. In my free time, I enjoy working out, spending time outdoors, and being with friends and family.
I am truly excited to be part of the AJ Whittenberg team and to have the opportunity to positively influence and support the students here. I approach my role from a trauma-informed perspective and strive to ensure that my presence never adds to the challenges or trauma a student may already be carrying. My hope is to build trust, create meaningful relationships, and help every student feel safe, supported, and valued.
I look forward to partnering with our staff, students, and parents to help create the best possible future for the AJ Whittenberg community. If there is ever anything I can do to help, please do not hesitate to reach out. I am grateful to be here and look forward to serving alongside all of you.
