It's wonderful to meet you! My name is Sarah Hodges, and I am thrilled to be your child's first grade teacher this year! First grade is full of exciting new discoveries, amazing friendships, academic and social growth, and just plain fun! I look forward to creating many wonderful memories with your child and fostering a love of learning in him or her!
I was born in Virginia, but I have lived all over the world including places like England, Germany, and South Korea due to my father's dental career in the army. My husband and I have been in Greenville since 2000 and are happy to call South Carolina home.
I graduated from Georgia Southern University (many years ago :) ) with a BS in Early Childhood Education. Before staying home to raise my four boys, I taught in Georgia, Virginia, and here in Greenville County at Oakview Elementary. In addition, I am a certified personal trainer and have taught K3 at SMMCC for many years to keep myself active in teaching before returning to the public schools.
Bells Crossing feels like home since each of my four boys attended Bells from Kindergarten through 5th grade! My oldest son Ben is 24 and lives in Houston, TX with his wife Monica. Thomas is 22 and a surgical trauma ICU nurse in Columbia, SC. Samuel is a Sophomore at the University of South Carolina, and my youngest son, Johnny, is in 9th grade at Mauldin High School. I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Brian, for 28 years!
Teaching is my passion, and I love to get to come to school each and every day! In our classroom, we are a family and treat each other with love, kindness, and respect. I want each student to feel welcomed and safe but also challenged and confident. I want you, as parents, to feel welcomed, informed, heard, and needed. I can't wait to work together to make this a fabulous year!
