About Mrs. Penninger

Hi! This year is my 15th year teaching at Ralph Chandler Middle School, and I’m so excited to share my love of history with a new group of 6th graders!

I grew up in Joplin, Missouri, and graduated from Westminster College in Fulton, MO, with a degree in history. I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching from Converse College and have completed an additional 30 graduate hours beyond my master’s degree. I’m highly qualified to teach Middle-Level ELA and Social Studies, and I love helping students see how history connects to their own lives.

My husband and I have three amazing kids. Our oldest daughter, Jo, lives and works in London, England. Our son, Andy, graduated from the University of South Carolina in May and now works in Columbia. Our youngest, Helen, is a senior at Clemson University—Go Tigers!

When I’m not teaching, you can usually find me traveling with my family, curled up with a good book, or at hot yoga.
