WHS Advanced Studies Program
Why Our Policies Are Different
Advanced Studies courses are designed to mirror the pace, rigor, and expectations of college-level work. Assignments build quickly, and deadlines are essential for staying on track and demonstrating mastery. These policies help ensure you develop the time management, accountability, and academic integrity skills needed for success in higher education.
Attendance & Make-Up Work
Advanced Studies classes move quickly, and each lesson builds on the last. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out what you missed and come prepared the next day. Make-up work is typically due within one week, and tutoring is available if needed. Late Major and Minor assignments will be accepted for up to three days after the due date (not counting weekends) with a 20-point deduction per day. The highest possible grade after deductions is 40%, and no work will be accepted after three days. Notify your instructor promptly if illness or an emergency will prevent you from meeting a deadline so appropriate arrangements can be made.
No Mastery Days Policy
Due to the accelerated pace and rigorous curriculum of Advanced Studies courses, mastery days will not be provided. Students are expected to stay current with all assignments and assessments to maintain progress and demonstrate understanding on schedule.
Plagiarism, Academic Integrity & AI Policy
Plagiarism—including copying work, using sources without credit, or obtaining answers dishonestly—is strictly prohibited. This includes the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to generate essays, written responses, or any assignment unless specifically permitted by the instructor. Any uncited or unauthorized use of AI will be treated as plagiarism. The first offense will result in a zero for the assignment and a referral to administration.
