Meet The Teacher

Seppie McAdams

Hello!

My name is Seppie McAdams, and I moved to this sweet, little city from Charleston, SC a few years ago (I can't believe its already been a few years). I could not be more grateful to continue working alongside the Stone Academy family and for the opportunity to teach 1st grade!

I graduated in '16 from the College of Charleston having pursued my Bachelors in Early Childhood Education. I enjoyed working for Meeting Street Elementary @Brentwood, where I taught 2nd grade before moving here. My innate love of working with children extends throughout my college career, where I gained experience in outdoor education as a sailing and rock climbing instructor. By putting together these very different chapters of life, I strive to create a unique classroom experience. Key word- EXPERIENCE. I will do my best to stuff every single day to the brim with joy, laughter and discovery.

I am beyond ecstatic to foster a fun, loving, and positive learning environment this year at Stone Academy with your wonderful children!

Personally,

Passions

My free time is spent with friends and family, reading all the book recommendations I can get my hands on, and being outside (too much) cycling or climbing. This past year I started really pursuing my love of art on the side!

If I am teaching my kiddos that EVERYONE is an artist, then I want to lead by example and pursue my dreams too!

Family

I'm sandwiched between two brothers, and they are my absolute best friends. I miss them dearly, but they are still in Charleston, which is not too far away!

Thrilled to announce that my sweet best friend, Karina, is marrying my younger brother this year! How often do you get to be the Maid of Honor at your brother's wedding?!

I LOVE a good adventure, even when it comes with a side of challenge. This is from a trip last summer to Canada, and while I did not get to take the trips I had planned this year, it has been FULL of adventure, new challenges, and problem solving. I anticipate the classroom will be no different. We will meet challenges with optimism and do it TOGETHER!

When it comes to the classroom,

Growth Mindset

I believe having a growth mindset can make all the difference! Our brains act like a muscle; the more we use it, the stronger (and smarter) our brains become!

My hope is to instill this in each of my kiddos. We can accomplish so much when we put our minds to it!

Arts Integration

The arts are very important here at Stone Academy, and we will be using our creativity every single day! Arts Integration is an approach to teaching in which students construct and demonstrate understanding through an art form. Students engage in a creative process which connects an art form and another subject and meets evolving objectives in both.
