My passion for music began long ago! As a child, I danced to the organ music at church, sang my responses to my parents' questions, and played the piano as often as I could! I studied piano for many years and did my professional music studies at Furman University. There, I studied vocal performance, conducting, and general music, and received my Bachelor of Music Education degree. I went on to the University of Georgia where I received my Master of Music Education and Music Therapy degree.
I moved to Atlanta to practice music therapy at a private psychiatric hospital. While there, I sang with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus and Chamber Chorus under the direction of Robert Shaw.
A few years later, I married a songwriter/musician and moved to Nashville, TN, where we lived for 17 years before returning to SC in 2008 with our children, Emily and Christopher.
I am very excited to be working with your children! I believe that music class should be fun and where children can learn to apply music skills to other disciplines! I hope your children will learn that music can play a vital role in their lives!
