Chief Master Sergeant Thomas McQueen enters his freshman year teaching Air Force Junior ROTC for Southside High School. Chief McQueen has served close to 40 years in the South Carolina Air National Guard.

Senior Master Sergeant Powell began his teaching career here at SHS in July, 2017, after serving 25 years he retired from the Air Force in July, 2017. During his 25 years he served primarily as a Paralegal in places such as Texas, Guam, New Mexico, Alabama, Oklahoma, and South Carolina. Sergeant Powell earned his Bachelor's Degree in Legal Studies in 2015 from Kaplan University. He resides in Greenville.
