I also send out pictures and links to videos  throughout the week. Read below to see what your child will be learning.

This Week we are working on these activities:

October 12-16

This week we will wrap up our Farm theme by reading and acting out the story The Three Little Pigs.  We will put the story in sequence as we retell the story. Students will recall animal sounds by singing Old MacDonald and we will paint and write about farm life. In math students will learn about positional words. (In, on, over, under ets.) Our SEL word this month is sharing. What does it mean to share? Send in any photos you want to share with the class, clean out the blue folder and send back clean blankets. Tuesday is PE and Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night. Friday is Teacher Professional Development Day. Students do not come to school on this day

October 5-9

This week we will continue to learn about farm life. We will use our growing voculabuary to write about the farm to express our thoughts and ideas. We will learn about parts of a book and continue to learn how to respond to a book that is being read to us. We will sing songs like Old MacDonald to help us sort animals and to create a repeated pattern. Our Wow big word is sharing for the month. It takes a great deal of practice to become comfortable with it.The feeling that is associate with true sharing is a special one and takes time to develope. Talk about sharing at home with your child. Conferences are in progress and please be patient as we work through days and times. Let me know if you have any questions. Monday -clean out your childs blue folder and send back clean washed blankets. Tuesday -PE wear correct shoes. Friday- This is the last day of the Charleston Wrap Fund Raiser .

Sept-28-Oct. 2

This week will continue learning about apples and introduce farm animals. We will learn what animals live on a farm and identify baby animals and their mother.  We will be able to react and respond to a book and make animal sounds. In math we will be singing songs to help us identify numbers 0-5. Example-Five Little Ducks. We are continuing to learn letters in our name and recognize our name. Practice letter recognition in their name at home.  Please send me any pictures you would like for your child to share with the class. Clean out the blue folder and bring back clean blankets.  As always let me know if you have any questions.  Monday Sept. 28 will begin our school fund raiser event. It is the Charleston Wrap. We are also sending home our FREE class shirt. Please wear it on Friday.   Tuesday is PE. Please wear correct shoes. Friday October 2, wear the class shirt that was sent home on Monday. It is also PTA Mother /Son Game Night at 6:00 in the cafeteria. 

Sept.21-22

  This week we will be learning with apples! We have worked all month on how to use our big voice to tell someone to stop something if it is bothering them . That is part of our conscious discipline education program that we are currently using at our school. Example: Please stop. I don’t like it when you say that . It makes me feel sad . Ask your child to show you how they can use their big voice to tell someone to stop. We have also learned how to share and how to tell someone it is my turn now.

Example: tap the student on the shoulder and wait until they look at you . Once they look at you say “ My turn please”. The students are doing better using our conscious discipline tools in class.

Tomorrow send in clean blankets!

It is also our multicultural celebration night on Monday . Please see the school website for more information if you would like to come for this fun event!

Tuesday wear correct shoes for PE!

Wednesday is Kona Ice day! Send in the exact amount of $3.00 if you would like your child to get Kona Ice. Please put the money in a ziplock bag or envelope with your child’s name on it and put it inside the blue folder . We do not go through book bags looking for money You can go ahead and send this in tomorrow or Tuesday if you like! We will eat it after lunch! If you have any pictures you want your child to share with the class send them to me .

This past week we filled our buckets with ways to be kind . We want to fill everyone with good happy feelings . Filling up a bucket is a bucket filler! We do not want to be a bucket dipper by saying unkind words to people . That would be a bucket dipper !

Mr. Cross and Mrs. Hill’s classes are buddy classes ! The second grade class made cards for our 4k class . The cards had shapes and letters inside as well as a sweet message that the 4k students were excited to receive.
