All About Mrs. Finley
I am a low country gal living in a mountain world who has wanted to teach ever since I was a little girl. Let's just say I have been preparing myself to be an educator since my childhood professional development: I would set up my playroom with desks (plastic tubs) so that my students (Cabbage Patch Kids) could take their many quizzes and tests. Thankfully I have come to know that learning is much more than quizzes and tests. Learning is an adventure that you take into your own hands. Learning is listening. Learning is building community and growing together. Learning is hands-on, problem solving. Learning is reflecting. Learning is figuring out how to apply content to every day life. Learning is this and so much more, and boy am I grateful I get to be a part of it - EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
Although teaching has captured a huge piece of my heart, I am also passionate about my faith, my family, and my sweet puppy, Diesel. I enjoy reading and writing. I also love sports. I spent many years playing volleyball and basketball, giving me a solid appreciation for the value of comradery and discipline sports offer a person. Although my glory days of competing have ended, I now especially love to see the Florida Gators bring home a win in any area of athletics. My husband has Gator in his veins, so naturally I was automatically converted when I said, "I do." My husband, Stephen, and I have three beautiful children - they are our greatest joy! We are so blessed to be their parents.
I have so much to be grateful for. I am particularly thankful that every year I have the opportunity to meet and build community with a large number of sweet students. Learning IS an adventure, one I am excited we get to journey as a team. I hope learning a little bit about me and my family brings us one step closer to feeling more like a school family and the special unit that will support your child as he/she conquers second grade.
