To avoid major screen damage
Do not lift the Chromebook up by the screen or poke the screen!
Never carry the Chromebook by the top corner with the lid open or carry/walk with the screen open.
Close the Chromebook screen before moving it and NEVER pick up a Chromebook by its screen. Closing the lid will not shut the Chromebook down, it goes to sleep.
Do not lean on the top of the Chromebook when it is closed.
Do not place anything near the Chromebook that could put pressure on the screen.
Be careful about placing books and other items against the Chromebook in your bookbag as it may get damaged.
Keep your Chromebook away from drink and food.
Make sure there are no items laying on the keyboard before you close the lid.
Do not place heavy items on top of your Chromebook.
Always use your Chromebook on a flat level surface.
The Chromebook may be gently wiped down with a baby-wipe type cloth and then dried with a soft dry cloth.
Each device has a serial number which has been recorded as part of the student’s PowerSchool profile. Found Chromebooks are brought to the Media Center to be scanned and the owner identified.
Not every Chromebook was distributed with a case. Students are encouraged to purchase their own case to help protect their Chromebook.
No. Do not draw on the Chromebook or attach anything that can't be easily removed.
Yes. Students are expected to take their device home each night to fully charge, complete homework, study for tests and complete class projects either individually or collaboratively with their peers.
Each student will need to supply their own earbuds.
Yes, but it is the student’s responsibility to keep up with it.
USB storage devices, mice and keyboards; SIM cards; SD cards; external monitors and projectors (via HDMI); headphones, earbuds, microphones.
Do not charge your phone from the Chromebook.
Yes. The cafeteria and bathrooms are Chromebook free zones.
Restriction of Chromebook privileges means a student will have access to their Chromebook at school, but may no longer take it home. Students may still have access to Google apps for education and Google classroom at home on a laptop or a computer connected to the Internet to complete assignments when needed.
Students are restricted from added Apps and Extensions. Approved Apps and Extensions are pushed out at the school level. Students are limited to just these Apps and Extensions.
Yes. The district can track information on what sites students were on, when they were on them, and how long they were on those sites.
Yes, the district’s internet filter will be enforced while the student is on campus as well as off campus. Students have no expectation of confidentiality or privacy with respect to any usage of a district issued Chromebook, regardless of whether that use is for district-related or personal purposes. The District may, without prior notice or consent, log, supervise, access, view, monitor, and record use of student Chromebooks at any time for any reason related to the operation of the District. By using a Chromebook, students agree to such access, monitoring, and recording of their use. Make sure you "Authenticate" when using your Chromebook off campus.
