Multi-Cat Program
What is Woodmont Middle School Multi-Cat?
· Specialized curriculum that is 50% academic and 50% functional
· Modified age appropriate curriculum for core subjects
· Operating a school-based business – Coffee Cart
· Self-Advocacy - Developing self-awareness and disability awareness
· Promotes Independence
· Opportunities to participate in Electives classes with general education peers – work towards building independence within the building
· Some students may also be enrolled in grade level courses (make a C or better in class with accommodations only- curriculum NOT modified; attend class independently without IA support)
Multi-categorical Class Purpose: To provide a student-paced instructional focus with modifications and accommodations. For a few students, the multi-cat class provides a modified curriculum with an emphasis on functional life skills.
Multi-categorical programming serves students with varying exceptionalities with mild to moderate deficits in academic, cognitive, adaptive, behavior, and/or communication skills. Programming provides various instructional supports and related services across multiple domain areas. Provided supports may include modifications and/or accommodations in curriculum, communication, materials, equipment, and/or the learning environment to improve individual academic achievement.
For the few students with more significant needs – provided supports include more intensive modifications and/or alternatives in curriculum, to improve individual independent functioning skills sets.
Determination of High School Outcome needs to be made prior to end of 8th grade year

· High School Employability Credential – modified curriculum

We will also be utilizing Zones of Regulation this year to support social/emotional needs of our students
