This is my thirteenth year teaching at BRMS. I have taken a long and winding path to get here. I earned a BA in Political Science at Wake Forest University in 1990. I worked for a US Congressman for several years after graduating. Then I switched fields and went into manufacturing. During this time I earned an International MBA from USC in 1999. I also worked in purchasing and operations for several automotive suppliers.
During my career I always enjoyed working with young people outside of work. I decided to leave manufacturing and go back to school to become a middle school math teacher. I earned an MAT in Middle Grades Math Education from Clemson in 2013.
I have been married to my wife, Melissa, for 28 years. We have two sons - Aidan (graduated in 2022 from Brown University and works for CVS Health Care) and Aaron (graduated from Furman University in May 2025 and teaches music at Duncan Chapel Elementary School in Greenville). Away from school, I enjoy spending time with my family as well as refereeing soccer, hiking, genealogy and learning/speaking German.
