August Unite Theme: Back to School 08/01/2026

Welcome to a new school year! We are excited to begin an amazing journey of learning, growth, and fun with your child. This week, our classroom activities will focus on helping students become familiar with their school environment while building foundational academic, social, and developmental skills.

In vocabulary, students will learn to identify important people and places at school, including teachers, classmates, the cafeteria, library, playground, and other areas around campus. During English Language Arts (ELA), we will practice identifying letters and action words through interactive lessons, songs, and movement activities. In math, students will explore basic shapes and numbers by participating in hands-on learning experiences that encourage counting, recognizing, and sorting.

Our thematic play activities will give students opportunities to imitate everyday school routines and practice taking turns, cooperating, and playing board games with classmates. In science, students will be introduced to common science tools while learning important classroom safety rules and procedures. During social studies, we will discuss school rules and expectations, emphasizing kindness, respect, responsibility, and safety.

Students will also participate in a fun movement activity, "Pin the Backpack in the Cubby," to encourage following directions and developing coordination. In art, they will create school-themed projects that allow them to express their creativity, while our cooking activity will feature school- and friendship-themed snacks that reinforce cooperation, listening skills, and following simple directions.

April Unit Theme: Spring Animals 04/01/2026

This month, our classroom is exploring the Spring Animals Theme. Spring is a time of change and growth, and students are learning about animals that are active during this season, such as ducklings, butterflies, and baby animals.

Throughout the unit, students are engaging in a variety of learning activities that connect to science, social studies, ELA, math, art, and movement. Lessons focus on understanding animal habitats, the parts of a flower, feelings, responsibility, sequencing events, and basic measurement skills.

Students are also participating in hands-on and interactive activities such as circle time games, art projects like butterfly snacks and ladybug stones, and theme-based videos and songs. These activities help promote teamwork, communication, and engagement across different learning levels.

Independent work tasks are also included to support skill development at each student’s level, helping them build confidence, communication skills, and academic growth.

Overall, the Spring Animals unit provides a fun and meaningful way for students to learn about nature while developing important academic, social, and functional skills.

March Unit Theme: Reading Super Powers 03/02/2026

This month, our classroom is exploring the Reading Superpowers Theme. Students are learning that reading is a powerful skill that helps us enjoy stories, learn new things, and build important life skills.

Throughout the unit, students are discovering the value of books, practicing letter recognition and letter sounds, and learning about library routines such as checking out and exploring books. They are also building early literacy skills in a fun and meaningful way.

Students are engaged in a variety of activities across subjects such as ELA, math, science, and social studies. These include themed circle time stories, adding one more in math, exploring how things change over time, and hands-on science activities like using and building a magnifying glass.

The unit also includes art projects, cooking activities, videos, songs, library-themed play, and independent work tasks that are adapted to different learning levels. These activities help students stay engaged while developing literacy, communication, and thinking skills.

Overall, the Reading Superpowers unit helps students build a strong foundation in reading while developing confidence, curiosity, and a love for books and learning.

February Unit Theme: Forecast Fun 02/02/2026

This month, our classroom is exploring the Forecast Fun Weather Theme. Students are learning about different types of weather, how weather changes, and how it affects our daily lives. They are also learning how to stay safe and prepare for different weather conditions.

Throughout the unit, students are building an understanding of how weather influences what we do each day—from sunny days to rainy and stormy weather. They are also learning seasonal activities and how people and animals adapt to changing weather.

Students are engaged in a variety of hands-on and interactive activities across subjects such as science, math, ELA, and social studies. These include learning weather vocabulary, answering “when” questions, creating weather maps, exploring the water cycle through experiments, and practicing counting and number skills.

The unit also includes movement activities, songs, videos, and independent work tasks that are adapted to different skill levels. These activities help students strengthen communication, listening, attention, and academic skills while staying engaged and motivated.

Overall, the Forecast Fun unit provides meaningful learning experiences that help students better understand the world around them and how weather impacts everyday life.

January Unit Theme: Winter Animals 01/06/2026

This month, our classroom is exploring the Winter Animals Theme. Students are learning about animals that live in cold environments, such as polar bears, arctic foxes, and other animals that adapt to survive winter weather.

Throughout the unit, students are learning how animals change and behave during winter and how they survive in different habitats. They are also making connections between climate, geography, and wildlife, helping them understand how living things adapt to their environment.

Students are engaged in a variety of activities across subjects such as science, social studies, ELA, and math. These include hands-on learning tasks, literacy and vocabulary activities, counting and graphing, movement activities, and theme-based videos and songs.

The unit also includes independent work activities that are adapted to different skill levels, allowing all students to participate and learn successfully. These activities help strengthen communication, attention, sequencing, and academic skills.
