BACKPACK FOR PARENTS: This account provides parents, guardians, or contacts with a central place to sign in to do the following:

• View their student's information including demographics, attendance, classes, grades, lunch balances, and test scores

• Apply or register their student to Special Focus schools and programs (Fine Arts Center, Career Centers, etc.)

• Receive alerts and notifications regarding their students

• View their student's school and contact information

• Manage parent and contact information for their students

How do I get started?

Simply sign up for a backpack account, confirm your email by clicking the link in the email that will get sent to you. Then sign in.

HELPFUL HINTS:

1. Read with your child every night for at least 20 minutes!

2. Search the internet to find interesting worksheets that you and your child can do together.

3. Keep a homework schedule located on the refrigerator for easy reference.

4. Highlight important key words when reading with your child.

5. Frequently ask your child questions to make sure he/she understands the material he is reading.

6. Set aside a quiet study area for your child with appropriate study materials/pillows.

7. Make sure your child has a homework assignment book.

8. Consider buying books on tape for your child to vary reading experiences.

9. Praise your child when he or she does a good job. Consider giving your child a special treat!

10. Concentrate on the good things your child has done and reward him appropriately.
