Ms. Rita Moraney (Teacher)

My name is Rita Moraney. I have been teaching in Greenville County for 37 wonderful years.  I have taught kindergarten, first grade, second grade, fourth grade, Reading Recovery and, Reading Intervention.  I am excited to be returning to kindergarten after 10 years as a Reading Interventionist. I attended Lander College in Greenwood, SC; now known as Lander University. I double majored in education; receiving degrees in both Early Childhood and Elementary Education.   I received my certification in Reading Recovery from Clemson University in 2011. I was also trained in SIPPS; Systematic Instruction in Phonological Awareness, Phonics, and Sight Words. It is a research-based foundational skills program designed to help both new and struggling readers in grades K-12 develop the skills and confidence needed for fluent, independent reading in 2024.   I am a highly qualified teacher.   I am so excited to work with your K5 student this year.

I believe that how well a child performs in school affects his/her out look on his/her life.  I am continuously learning new ways to help the children in our class become confident about what they can do.  All children can learn and must believe they are capable of learning what they put their minds to learning. Children are the most important component of the educational process. Children learn best when they feel safe with the adults they are with. Children should be given every opportunity to do well.    I believe that community involvement supports and enhances the learning experiences of our children to learn and communicate effectively, solve problems competently,  think critically and creatively, and act responsible.

Feel free to contact me if I can help you in any way.                                                            rmoraney@greenville.k12sc.us                                                                                                        355-5954
