Response to Intervention Program (RTI)

In this present environment, we are all challenged to do our best and to be our best. We all need support. That is why the RTI program is at Alexander Elementary School. We are here to support your child in gaining what has been lost in reading, writing, or math.

SCREENING

At the beginning of the school year, students in kindergarten, first, and second grades are tested in reading and math to see where they are compared to the Greenville County academic norms - or, the average performance of a child in GCSD.

CONSULTATION

If your child's screening scores fall in the lower 20% of student performance, we will consult with their classroom teacher, compare recent standardized test scores, and current classroom performance to decide to recommend support services in RTI.

PLACEMENT AND RELEASE

This is considered a short term intervention, with the intention that your child will progress in their areas of need and be released from the program.
