Welcome to 6th Grade Science!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I’m excited to partner with you this year as your child begins their journey through 6th grade science. This is an important time for students as they develop critical thinking skills, explore the scientific world, and grow as independent learners.

To create a classroom environment where all students can thrive, it’s important that clear behavior expectations are established and consistently followed. In our science classroom, we emphasize respect, responsibility, and curiosity. Students are expected to come prepared, stay engaged, treat others with kindness, and contribute positively to our learning community.

These expectations not only help ensure a safe and focused environment for learning but also support your child’s social and academic development. With your support at home, I’m confident we can make this a successful and enriching year for everyone.

Rule 1: Be Respectful

Listen when others are speaking .
Use Kind words and appropriate language
Respect all classmates, teachers, materials and ideas.

Rule 2: Be Responsible

Come to class prepared with your Chromebook (fully charged), folder, pencil and homework.
Keep track of assignments and due dates
Clean up after yourself and take care of lab materials.

Rule 3: Be Ready to Learn

Be on time and seated when the bell rings.
Follow directions the first time they are given.
Stay focused and participate in class discussions and activities.

Rule 4: Follow Safety Rules

Follow all lab safety instructions carefully.
Never touch lab materials unless told to.
Report accidents or spills to the teacher immediately.

Rule 5: Try your Best

Don't be afraid to ask questions.
Learn from your mistakes- science is about discovery!
Put effort into all classwork and projects.
