I have been working in math since graduating from USC Upstate in 1998. I taught 6 years at Bryson Middle, was a stay at home mom for 11 years, and this is my 11th year at Ralph Chandler. I have taught 6th & 8th grade math, Algebra, and Geometry. During my time at home, I tutored students in math levels from 4th grade to college.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, attending Clemson games, going to the lake and beach, anything DISNEY, and many, many crafts! I have three awesome kids: Grace (recent Anderson Univ grad), Avery (Junior at USC), and Ashlynn (11th grade). We have a beautiful Golden Retriever named Daisy. My husband, Bryan, and I just celebrated our 26 year anniversary this summer.
Hello there! I am so excited to be starting my fifth year teaching this year. Before teaching at RCMS, I graduated with a degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from Anderson University. I graduated in Spring 2024 from AU again with a Master's Degree in Instructional Design and Learning Technologies and earned my Gifted and Talented endorsement.
In my free time, I enjoy being with my family, reading, listening to Taylor Swift, and shopping at Target. I am so excited to start the school year!
Ms. Makayla Harvey
My name is Makayla Harvey and I just graduated from Clemson with my teaching degree in both middle level mathematics and middle level science--- I just have more of a passion for math! This is my first year teaching within my own classroom and I am very excited to be here at Ralph Chandler!!
I am originally from the Ohio and Michigan boarder, but I have been in South Carolina for about 11 years now. I'm not much for sports but if I had to pick a favorite team it would be the Michigan Wolverines. I have two 8 year old furbabies-- A black cat named Charlie (Sir Charles Xavier if we're being formal) and a Nebelung named Chloe.
I love to paint when I have the time or need a gift. I enjoy lots of different shows and movies, such as Adventure Time. I also love finding good music or musicals; my tops are AJR and Epic the Musical.
I am excited to get to know my students this year and if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out!
