I am so honored to be working with your child this year! This is my 28th year teaching, and I am thrilled to be a part of the amazing team at Riverside Middle. I have taught 7th grade Science at RMS since the school opened in 1999. Before coming to RMS, I taught math and science at Hillcrest Middle School, Faith Christian Academy, and Dorman High School.
I have lived in Upstate South Carolina all of my life. I attended Lyman Elementary, DR Hill Middle School, and Byrnes High School in Spartanburg District 5. I graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a concentration in Biological and General Sciences. In 2005, I received my Master of Arts in Middle School Science from Furman University. In 2006, I became Nationally Certified in Young Adolescence ~ Science and successfully renewed National Certification in 2016. In 2010, I finished my Master's Plus 30 in Curriculum from Clemson University.
My amazing husband of 26 years is Billy, and we have a spunky, eleven year old "fur baby," Otis. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, playing softball, traveling, kayaking, hiking, and collecting antiques and treasures. My husband and I are huge fans of high school and college football and spend most of our weekends in the Fall either watching games on TV or cheering on our teams in the stadium. Go Byrnes Rebels! Go Gamecocks! Go Furman! (And when SC isn't playing Clemson...Go Clemson ~ I married into a CU family.)
I am looking forward to having you in my class this year. I am sure that there will never be a dull moment. I will have high expectations for each of you as I am sure that you will have for me. It will definitely take you, your child, and me working together to make this a productive year. If we all work hard, I know that we will have a successful year full of wonderful learning experiences!!
