My name is Joseph Paddenburg. I grew up in Martinsville, Virginia and graduated from Clemson University in December of '93 (220 years to the day of the Boston Tea Party). From there I began teaching in Danville City Schools at the Opportunity School and then at GW High School. In 2001, my wife and I moved to Greenville, and I began teaching at Southside High School. During my 21 years there I taught all levels of social studies except Psychology and Sociology including AP World since 2006, and AP US and IB History of the Americas since 2016. I became a Reader for the AP World exam in 2010, and I have been a College Board consultant since 2015. Mr. Warren brought my to Greenville High in 2022 and I have continued teaching AP US and now Government.
My wife and I have been married for 30 years and we have 3 incredible kids. Our oldest just graduated from Clemson in December with a degree in Horticulture and is working on a family farm in Seneca. Our oldest son is a junior at Clemson and is carrying on the family tradition of marching in Tiger Band - for any alumni, I am the Greenville area rep for CUTBA - and plays trombone. He is majoring in Sports Marketing and is in Concert, Symphonic and the Pep band as well. Our youngest son is in the front ensemble of the MavBand and is an eleventh grader. Our fall weekends are tied up around football games for both schools, prop building and band competitions, and we thoroughly enjoy it! We also have a rescue pup named Jigs.
