About Mr. Simms

I am excited to begin my 10th year at TR, my Alma Mater, where I teach Varsity Choir and Concert Choir, as well as class piano. 

My childhood love of singing and playing music took me to middle and high school choir (with the legendary Mrs. Hunt) as a student, then to Furman University where I earned my degree in Music Education. I have been a member of Greenville Chorale and Herring Chamber Ensemble (2001-2010) and Rivertree Singers (2014-2018, 2021-present) I also spent most of the last 5 years playing 70's/80's/90's rock  songs with my cover band, The Time Pilots. 

I enjoy the theatre as well and have had both lead and supporting roles in numerous musical and non-musical productions at Greenville (Little)Theatre and Centre Stage. On the weekends you can find me supporting my Paladins at a football or basketball game or hiking with my wife. 

My hope is that I can pass along the love of singing to a new generation while giving them the skills to be musically literate so that they continue to be life-long musicians.
