This year marks my 35th year of teaching and my has time flown. I love teaching about history and culture and then analyzing the impact they have on our lives. I also feel that understanding history will make us good citizens and educated voters in a democracy.
The city were I was born was full of history and my mom and grandmother taught me a lot about the place where I grew up, Augusta, Georgia. My mother and grandmother were both steeped in stories about life and the history of the place we called home.
I graduated from Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia and I received my Masters' Degree from Furman University. I taught for eleven years at Sego Middle School home of the Falcons. Then I moved to Greenville, SC and have been teaching at Woodmont Middle for 24 years!! Go Wildcats!! During the Covid-19 pandemic I taught for one year in the Greenville County Virtual Program.
I love reading, traveling, photography, playing pickleball and running half-marathons. I love to run and try to complete four half-marathons a year. I also now spend a lot of time on the pickleball courts. I have two cats that I love named Kit-Kat and Snickers. I also have a new poodle puppy named Squirt! I think of them as parts of the family.
I finally had the opportunity to fulfill a lifetime dream in 2005 and visited China and Japan. I was able to teach middle school students and to travel to places that I have taught about for many years. I love sharing my experiences with my students. I am excited to share my journeys and to unlock mysteries of the ancient world!
