Class Expectations

Students will demonstrate the integrity of what it takes to succeed as a firefighter candidate. Lying, cheating, stealing, plagiarism, or toleration of the aforementioned will not be tolerated, and any violation of the CADET HONOR CODE (this can be found on the tab at the top of the page) may result in serious administrative action up to and including expulsion from the program.

Customs and Courtesies: This is a fire department environment and will differ from your other classes. Two class leaders will be assigned weekly on a rotational basis, whose duties include providing handouts, taking attendance, assisting with AV requirements, and making sure that the room is clean after class.  Whenever a guest or educator enters the classroom, the class leaders will verbally call the room to attention as a sign of respect.

Food and drinks: Drinks must have a lid, and food is allowed if not distracting. Students will clean up after themselves after each classroom session.

Electronic Devices: Students will be authorized to use computers or tablets to take notes and participate in class. However, if they become distracting or are not used for educational purposes, the instructor retains the right to ask students to cease the activity and put the electronics away. If students abuse the policy, they may lose the right to use them in class.

Lastly, cell phones must be silenced and put away during class.
