Course description

Honors 1 Chemistry provides the fundamental concepts and principles of high school chemistry according to South Carolina state standards.  Some college level content is also added to this course which is ommited from CP Chemistry.  It emphasizes inquiry and critical thinking skills including: problem solving, mathematical reasoning, and experimental investigations.  Laboratory work and experimental design is a crucial component of this course.  Biology and Algebra 1 are prerequisites. The breadth, pace and depth of material covered exceeds the standard high school Chemistry course, as does the laboratory work, and time and effort required of students.
