Instructional Goals

The major units of study are matter and its interactions, energy, molecules, ecosystem dynamics, and earth and human activity. 

At the end of the course the students will:

• Understand the structures and properties of matter and that matter is conserved as it undergoes changes.

• Understand potential and kinetic energy and how energy is transferred

• Understand how energy cycles through living systems 

• Understand the interactions and flow of energy between organisms and various ecosystems

• Understand how human activity and consumption of natural resources impact the environment and earth's systems
