Richard Young Jr. is an enthusiastic and caring music teacher, whose passion for music theory brings a wealth of fun and energy into his classroom. A Greenville, SC native and alumni of Fine Arts Center, Richard returned to his FAC home as a music theory instructor in 2012.
Richard received his Master of Music degree in Music Theory from Stephen F. Austin University. He received a Bachelor of Music in Music Theory from University of South Carolina with an emphasis in classical guitar, with additional studies at University of Georgia and Brevard College. For twenty years he freelanced as a guitar instructor, performer, and instrument technician. Many of his guitar students have become career musicians and pursued further musical studies at college and graduate levels. He has performed extensively with many musical acts, including Green Vegas and Hot as a Pepper.
In his leisure time, Richard is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hiking, camping, fishing, travel, gardening/horticulture, and an occasional skydive.
