SUMMER READING (Pre-Course Work)
Welcome to AP Literature! Below you will find your Summer Reading/Winter Break assignment. This assignment will be recorded as a first-quarter MAJOR and will not be exempted. Please email me with questions.
**First semester students read during the summer. Second semester students can read whenever but must have completed by first week of class in January.
Read or listen to the book (linked below):
How to Read Literature Like a Professor: A Lively and Entertaining Guide to Reading Between the Lines, Revised Edition (2014) *Do not read the “For Kids” version.
(NOTE: This is a change from previous years). You will have a TEST ON THIS BOOK in the first week of class!!! In the past I have collected summary notebooks, but will not be doing that this year (2025-2026)
TIPS:
*Don’t stress when he names titles you haven't read! Focus on the point he's trying to make
Each chapter is stand-alone, so you do not need to read it all at once for it to make sense.
WE TALK ABOUT THIS BOOK IN CLASS ALMOST EVERY DAY
