I will follow along with the suggested pacing guide and reading list as set forth by Greenville County Schools. Our course will incorporate communication skills, literary analysis, informational text analysis, research skills, and art.

Grading Scale:
A: 90-100
B 80-89
C 70-79
D 60-69
F 59-0
English I:
Grades are based on four quarters, each with 60% major (2-3 assignments) and 40% (6-8 assignments) minor work. The final grade for this course will include both semesters plus a final exam (10% of the grade). This final exam is not an EOC.
ELA 8:
50% Major: There will be 2-3 major grades per quarter that be in the form of tests, projects, or essays.
50% Minor: There will be 8-10 minor grade assignments per quarter. These assignments can include quizzes, bell ringers, practice assignments, and group participation.
Late Work and Redo/Retakes:
Students may request a retake for any MAJOR assessment in the quarter. To do this a student must:
Complete a Retake Request Form (linked on their teacher’s Google Classroom).
Complete the required remediation work before retaking the assessment.
Have all minor assignments turned in for that unit.
Coordinate with the teacher a time to complete the retake of the assessment.
Student Late Work Policy
Any work that is not handed in by the due date will be recorded in the gradebook as a code of NHI. The code of NHI equates to a score of zero in the gradebook.
Students will have five (5) school days from the recording of an NHI in the gradebook to turn in that assignment.
Any work missed because of a student absence will be recorded as MDA.
The code of MDA equates to a score of zero in the gradebook and will impact the student’s overall grade until the work is submitted.
Students have five (5) school days after returning from an excused absence to submit missed work
