New for English I: English I is a high school credit class and will follow GCS's high school grading policies. The grade floor (50) does not apply to individual assignments and will only be given for the quarter.
English I:
Grades are based on four quarters, each with 60% major and 40% minor work.
The final grade for this course will include both semesters plus a final exam (10% of the grade). This final exam is not an EOC.
ELA 8:
50% Major: There will be 2-3 major grades per quarter that be in the form of tests, projects, or essays.
50% Minor: There will be 8-10 minor grade assignments per quarter. These assignments can include quizzes, bell ringers, practice assignments, and group participation.
Grading:
As stated in the League Handbook and course syllabus, retakes and late work are at the teacher's discretion. I try my best to complete grading in a timely manner, but please be patient as most assignments are written and require feedback for growth. I will grade all assignments completed on time first and then go back to add in missing NHIs.
