The work we do during our class ELA rotation will be recorded in two separate grade books:
Reading and Language Arts. *Spelling is practiced through a vocabulary/word study and is 10% of the Language Arts Grade book. **Writing and Grammar work are the other components of the Language Arts Grade book
In fifth grade we work with students to use ONE BINDER that travels with them from class to class. The binder acts as our command station to contain necessary supplies and organize work and notes.
Students use their agenda to record homework, assessments, projects and important dates. They will be using both the Weekly and the MONTHLY sections of the agenda.
Announcements and organizational materials along with MONTHLY ELA Study Guides for students are in their binder ELA tab. Back up resources are often posted in Google Classroom.
Please check student binders and agendas regularly to help support their organization habits.
Graded Ela work is returned to students directly in class to keep in the Ela tab of their Binder. This becomes a growing resource throughout the year. Students should be showing their returned graded work to parents weekly in lie of Thursday Folders by sharing their binder Ela tab and notebook.
Students will keep all graded work and Ela papers in their binders. Students can access any google classroom work using "VIEW WORK".
