Student Expectations
In our 4K classroom, we work together to create a happy, safe, and positive learning environment. We keep our expectations simple, clear, and age-appropriate, so children can feel successful and confident in their daily routines.
Our Classroom Rules:
Treat others with kindness
Keep hands and feet to yourself
Use walking feet
Use listening ears
These rules are introduced, discussed, and reinforced daily to help students understand the importance of respect, safety, and making good choices.
Behavior Management:
Our classroom focuses on teaching children how to make good choices rather than simply correcting misbehavior. We use positive reinforcement to encourage appropriate behavior and build social-emotional skills such as empathy, problem-solving, and self-regulation.
If a student needs support, we give gentle reminders. After two or more reminders, a child will be asked to sit in a “thinking chair” to reflect and regroup. If a child is struggling with a particular behavior, we guide them through what went wrong, how to make it right, and how to better handle similar situations in the future.
Children are given the opportunity to make reasonable, safe choices throughout the day. This helps them gain independence, confidence, and a sense of responsibility. If a child chooses not to follow expectations, natural and logical consequences will be applied in a supportive way.
Home Communication:
Our goal is to partner with you in your child’s growth. If your child has had a challenging day or if we need your support with a behavior, you will receive a phone call, note home, or message on Class Dojo. If you don’t hear from us, that means your child has had a great day—and you should be proud!
Please remember, all children have ups and downs. It's completely normal to have amazing days and others that are more difficult. Together, we’ll help your child learn and grow every step of the way.
