Our class will focus on learning about self-regulation and natural/logical consequences. We will also emphasize positive reinforcement. Our goal is to instill essential skills that will last a lifetime. My behavior management plan consists of several components. We will focus on providing clear rules and expectations, as well as consequences that make sense.
Our Class Expectations:
1. Be a good listener.
2. Follow directions the first time they are given.
3. Be kind with your words and actions.
4. Work and play safely.
Good Notes:
Each day, Mrs. Hayes and I will be watching for positive behaviors. We will write several "good notes" to send home, and we will celebrate those who receive a good note that day. Whenever your child gets a good note, they will also get to visit the treasure box.
Whole Class Incentives:
We will work together as a class to earn whole-class incentives like pajama day, special treats, extra recess, etc. We will earn "letters" in the word "compliment." When we earn every letter, we will get a special reward chosen by the students.
Table Points:
Each table will earn table points for positive behaviors such as working quietly, following directions, working as a team, etc. When a table gets 10 points, all members of the table get to go to the treat jar. This is a fun way to keep our classroom a calm and manageable learning environment.
Logical Consequences:
We all make mistakes and have tough days. We will work alongside you to support your child as they learn how to navigate our classroom expectations. At times, even multiple attempts to redirect behavior can fail. This is when logical consequences are needed. For example, if a child is continually not listening during carpet time, they may be asked to go sit at their seat. If your child is playing or throwing food in the cafeteria, they will be asked to come sit with their teacher. If your child hurts someone on the playground, they will need to sit out for "thinking time" for a few minutes. If behaviors are consistent, I will reach out to you for further discussion and brainstorming. Our goal is for everyone to be able to learn and grow this year. If behaviors start to hinder that, we will need to come up with a plan to get back on track. I greatly appreciate your support.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
