About Me
Hello! My name is Lia Neergaard, and I’m proud to be a special education teacher at Berea Elementary. I teach Kindergarten through second grade multi-cat.
I have been teaching for 6 years, in different self contained settings. My goal is to create a supportive, engaging, and inclusive classroom where every student feels seen, heard, and empowered to reach their full potential.
I believe that all students can learn and thrive when they are in an environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and confidence. I strive to meet each student where they are and to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs. I value building strong relationships with students and their families to foster a sense of community and collaboration.
Degree: Bachelors of Arts in Special Education Generalist ages Kindergarten through ages 21.
A Bit More About Me
I moved here from Colorado in 2023 and have loved it here so far. When I'm not in the classroom, I enjoy crafting, taking photos, hiking and traveling with my fiancé and two dogs. These activities keep me energized and help me bring fresh perspectives into my teaching.
I believe that parent-teacher communication is key to student success. Please see the contact page for my information on how to reach out to me at with any questions or concerns. I'm here to support you and your child every step of the way!
I cannot wait for a great year!
