I began my teaching career in 1995 at Mitchell Road Elementary School, where I taught fifth grade for five years. After that, I moved into the Challenge program, where I spent three years working with gifted and talented students. I was then given a wonderful opportunity to help develop a school for Greenville County called the Greenville County Gifted Center (now the Charles Townes Center), where I worked for two years. After that experience, I returned to the Challenge program to continue my work with gifted learners.
I graduated from Lander University and earned my master’s degree in elementary education with an emphasis in gifted education from Converse College. Over the years, I’ve been honored to receive the Golden Apple Award and to be named Teacher of the Year at the Charles Townes Center. Most recently, I was recognized as the 2021–2022 Teacher of the Year at Stone Academy, where I currently teach in the Challenge program.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy swimming, playing golf, gardening, reading a great book, and spending time with good friends.
