Dear Parents,
My name is Katherine Varghese, and I will be your child’s Spanish teacher this year. I was born in Venezuela, where Spanish was my first language, and I moved to the United States at the age of 7. I have lived here for over 30 years. I hold a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Spanish from Clemson University, a Master’s in Education from Southern Wesleyan University, and an Educational Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision from Clemson. Additionally, I am a National Board Certified Teacher, a distinction earned by less than 3% of teachers nationwide.
Having been born outside the U.S., I understand the challenges of learning a second language. However, I also recognize the immense value of being bilingual in today’s rapidly evolving world. My goal is to provide your child with the valuable skill of mastering a second language, an asset that will serve them well in the future.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending quality time with my family. I’m married and have two energetic children, ages 12 and 14, who always keep me on my toes. I also love traveling, exploring different cuisines, and watching movies.
I look forward to a fantastic year of learning and growth together!
Best regards,
Katherine Varghese
