About Me

Welcome to 1st grade!  I am thrilled to be your child’s teacher this year!  I know we are going to have a great year together!  Here is a little bit about me…  I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Ed. at Northeast Louisiana University, where I met and married the love of my life, John Sever. We have been married for 37 years. After graduating, we moved to Central Florida, where I taught Kindergarten for five years.   I later, earned my Master’s degree in Early Childhood and completed my +30 addition to my certificate soon after in ELA. I have now taught 1st grade for 13 years.

Our family moved to SC in September 2007, and both of our children attended Blue Ridge High School.  My son, John Michael is now 31, and is married and living in Florida with his sweet wife, Amanda. They have two beautiful children, Greyson and Adeline, who made me a Grammy!  My daughter Kaili is 28 and is a graduate of NGU and lives in Fountain Inn.  She is married to Christopher Riddle and they have blessed us with two more grand babies, Woodrow and Rosie!  They own ‘TheRiddleFarm’ where they currently raise and sell their own pasture-raised chickens.

I count it the greatest honor to be a part of this amazing team at Simpsonville Elementary. I am looking forward to another wonderful year in First Grade!

I believe that my classroom should be a happy place where all students can grow and learn.  I can’t wait to meet my new friends and see the progress they will make this year!  Please never hesitate to contact me.
