My name is Lisa Ruskin and I was born and raised in and around the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. I graduated from the University of Michigan (GO BLUE!) with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and then I continued my education at Marygrove College, earning my Master's degree in the Art of Teaching. My family and I moved to Simpsonville back in 2006. We are so happy to have moved to such a wonderful community! This year two of my daughters will be attending Clemson and the third daughter will be moving to Savannah at the end of August. The Ruskin Family are animal lovers! We have a dog named Pepper, a bird named Romeo, a spotted gecko named Scully, a cat named Gibby and a newly found kitten with no name just yet. Looks like I will be investing in more swiffer sweepers and vacuums.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, attempting some projects (not many because I can never complete those things!), but most of all, just spending time and making memories with my family and friends. My daughters and I take the annual summer (and sometimes winter) trek up to Michigan to visit family and see the sites of the state. This year I am hoping I will be able to do some walleye fishing at one of the many great lakes, or visit one of the many state parks. Michigan has so many beautiful places to explore any time of the year!
I truly enjoy being with the students each and every day! Once students enter my classroom, they become "My Kids" and are a part of my heart forever! I work very hard to make them see that just as we have families at home, we also have a classroom family. I want them to understand that while we are together in school, we need to trust one another, get along, and give each other support so that we all can be our best!
