About Your Teachers

I have been teaching for 17 years and am certified in Special Education: Early Childhood and Special Education: Multi-Categorical. I earned my Bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and my Masters in Special Education from the University of Cincinnati. I have been happily married to my husband, Lee, for 20 years. Together we enjoy watching sports, hiking, and going to new places.

Outside of the classroom, I love all things sports—especially soccer, college football, and baseball. I'm also an animal lover, with a special fondness for pigs; in fact, I once had a miniature potbelly pig named Robert Bacon! One of my favorite quotes is by Henry Ford: “The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing." I try to integrate this philosophy into my teaching and classroom every day.

Mrs. Amick has been part of the Heritage family for 8 years. She has been happily married for many years and is the proud mother of three children and grandmother to four wonderful grandchildren.

Having lived in Travelers Rest for 20 years, Mrs. Amick loves the charm and close-knit feel of the small town she calls home. In her free time, she enjoys shopping, cooking, and spending quality time with her family. Her warm personality and love for her community make her a valued part of the Heritage team.
