About Me

Dear Students and Families, 

My name is Jennifer Murphy. I am the literacy specialist/reading coach at REC. I have been an educator for 18 years. Before becoming a reading coach, I taught 3rd and 4th grade at Robert E. Cashion Elementary and Bethel Elementary.  

I enjoy reading, cooking,  watching movies, and hiking with my husband Jeremy of 18 years, my 13-year-old daughter, Ainsley, and our little 20 pound petite Labradoodle, Lucy. 

I graduated from Furman University in 2006 with a BA in Elementary Education. I then went on to complete a MA in Education with a focus on Special Education at Furman in 2008. I achieved National Board Certification in 2011 and renewed in 2021. I hold certification in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.
