Education: I attended Texas A&M University and graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Texas System School of Nursing at Austin. I also completed an internship in Critical and Emergency Nursing at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas. I hold a SC Teaching Certification in the area of Career and Technology Education.

Professional: This is my 8th and final ear teaching at Berea High School. I plan to retire at the end of this term. I previously taught at Enoree Career Center. I believe the variety of employment opportunities I have held during my 30+ years as a Registered Nurse has prepared me to help prepare Greenville County's young people to take their first steps towards a career in health care. My employment opportunities have included work as a CCU/ICU nurse and educator, medical equipment sales and in-service professional and concurrent part-time teaching jobs with the Adult and Continuing Education at Greenville Technical College, Roper Mountain Science Center Health Outreach and through the Sexuality Education Program of Greenville County High Schools.

Personal: Though raised in south Texas, my husband, Rhett, and I have lived in South Carolina all of our 30+ years of marriage. We have 3 wonderful adult children. Two married sons, their lovely wives and one daughter. We are blessed with 2 adoralble grandsons, Theo and Rhett Franklin, Jr and a sweet young granddaughter, Addy and another due at the end of February. My daughter will be married this spring so it will be a busy but exciting time in my life My spare time, what little there is, is spent reading, and volunteering and playing with my grandchildren every chance I have.

Class Goals: I enjoy the challenges and opportunities this position offer. I started the BHS's first HOSA chapter (similar to FFA, this is an organization for students in pursuing a health career). I hope to expand the shadowing and internships available to Berea's students. I also want to offer interested students hands on experience to 'give back" to their community with service projects. Most of all, I will do my best to offer opportunities so each of my students can meet his or her potential as they experience the beginnings of health care careers.
