I am currently in my 13th year as an educator. This year I will be teaching Freshman Success and Principles of Biomedical Science. I am the advisor for the INNclusive club and co-advisor for the National Honor Society and the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA). I also lead a travel abroad, these are not official FIHS/GCSD trips, but they are offered to students who attend FIHS.
I started my teaching career as a 2013 Teach for America corps member working at Blenheim Elementary Middle School in Marlboro County, South Carolina where I taught 8th grade science for five years. While there I received the Marlboro County School District Technology Spotlight Award, the Principal's List Award, and was the 2016-17 Teacher of the Year for my school.
I taught my next three years as the Gateway to Technology teacher at Rudolph Gordon School here in Greenville County. I had the honor of representing RGS as the 2020-21 Teacher of the Year, and received a Golden Apple Award from WYFF 4 after being nominated by a wonderful student of mine!
I was thrilled to be a part of the founding staff at Fountain Inn High School in 2021, and I'm looking forward to our 5th year as a school. I was honored to be chosen for the Pink Flamingo Award for a staff member whose actions sets them apart in 2022, as well as the first Staff Member of the Month in 2024.
I have been married my wonderful husband Shaun for nearly 13 years, we've been together over 16. He is also a teacher, teaching engineering at Green Charter Upstate High School. In August 2018 we finalized our adoption of our 5 children now aged 15-23, I am also a Grandy (grandma) of 2! Two of my boys attend FIHS, one is a freshman and the other is a senior this year!
I received my Associate in the Arts Degree from Central Piedmont Community College, then went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a major in Psychology and a double minor in Sociology and Women's & Gender Studies. In 2017 I earned my Master's of Education degree in Instructional Accommodations at Francis Marion University.
