I am currently in my 14th year as an educator! I was thrilled to be a part of the inaugural staff at Fountain Inn High School in 2021, and I'm looking forward to our 6th year as a school! This year I will be teaching Principles of Biomedical Science and Earth Science.
I started my teaching career as a 2013 Teach for America corps member working at Blenheim Elementary Middle School in Marlboro County, South Carolina where I taught 8th grade science for five years and was the 2016-17 Teacher of the Year.
I taught my next three years as the Gateway to Technology teacher at Rudolph Gordon School here in Greenville County. I had the honor of representing RGS as the 2020-21 Teacher of the Year, and received a Golden Apple Award from WYFF 4 after being nominated by a wonderful student of mine!
I am co-advising HOSA with Dr. Thompson this year! We have lots of great things in store:
Competing at State Conference in Myrtle Beach
Hosting Blood Drives
Volunteer Opportunities at local Nursing Home, and other places
Toy drives for children in hospitals
Speakers from Health Fields
Leadership Development & Resume Building
How can you join HOSA?
Join the Google Classroom using this code: mgzzl22
Pay $35 dues for the year
Join meetings on Wednesdays from 8-8:30 (check classroom for dates)
I also lead travel abroad groups through EF Tours, these are NOT official Fountain Inn High School/Greenville County School District trips, but they are offered to students who attend FIHS, we will be traveling to Italy in 2027, and Paris, London, and Barcelona in 2028 email me if your are interested in joining!
I have been married my wonderful husband Shaun for 14 years, we've been together over 17. He is teaching iStudio classes at League Academy and is a Defensive Football Coach here at Fountain Inn High School. In August 2018, after a 2 1/2 year process, we finalized our adoption of our 5 children now aged 16-24. I am also a Grandma of 2 adorable grandbabies!
I received my Associate in the Arts Degree from Central Piedmont Community College, then went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a major in Psychology and minors in Sociology and Women and Gender Studies. In 2017 I earned my Masters of Education degree in Instructional Accommodations at Francis Marion University.
