Weekly Theme: Welcome Back To School
Welcome to another busy week in the Honeybee classroom! Our classroom is all about learning, communicating, building independence, playing together, and having fun! Here is a peek at what our Honeybees will be working on this week.
This week we will practice:
Listening and responding to stories
Identifying letters and letter sounds
Building and reading words at each student’s individual level
Answering simple who, what, where, and what happened questions
Sequencing events from a story
Building vocabulary through books, pictures, songs, and play
Our Learning Target:
I can listen, read, and show what I know about a story.
Our Honeybees will work on writing skills at their individual levels. Activities may include:
Tracing and writing names
Forming letters and words
Drawing and labeling pictures
Building simple sentences
Cutting, gluing, coloring, and other fine-motor activities
Our Learning Target:
I can use pictures, letters, or words to share my ideas.
This week we will practice math skills through hands-on activities, manipulatives, games, and small-group instruction.
Students may work on:
Number recognition
Counting with one-to-one correspondence
Comparing quantities
Sorting and making patterns
Addition and subtraction
Solving simple problems
Our Learning Target:
I can use numbers and objects to solve problems.
We will explore our weekly theme through hands-on activities, books, experiments, crafts, songs, and classroom discussions.
Our Learning Target:
I can explore the world around me and share what I notice.
Learning how to be part of a classroom community is an important part of our day!
This week we will practice:
Identifying and communicating feelings
Taking turns
Sharing materials and space
Keeping our hands and bodies safe
Asking for help
Waiting
Following classroom routines
Using strategies when we feel frustrated or overwhelmed
Our Learning Target:
I can be a safe, kind, and helpful member of my classroom.
Play is an important part of learning in our classroom! During structured play, centers, games, sensory activities, music, and movement, students will practice communication, turn-taking, waiting, problem-solving, flexible thinking, and interacting with friends.
Every Honeybee is working at their own level, but we are all practicing three important skills:
Take Turns • Follow a Sequence • Keep Our Hands to Ourselves
We celebrate progress, independence, communication, and effort every day!
You can support this week's learning by:
Reading together for 10 minutes
Asking your child to tell you something about the story
Counting everyday objects
Letting your child help with a simple 2–3 step activity
Playing a game that requires taking turns
Talking about feelings: “How do you feel? What can we do?”
Encouraging your child to ask for help, a break, or a turn

Important Dates/Reminders:
In our classroom, a good day does not mean a perfect day. A good day means we learn something, communicate what we need, practice being a good friend, try again when something is hard, and have some fun along the way!
